Post 43’s Cole Stukitz pulls up while sliding into third base against Rock Hill Post 34.

The Fort Mill Post 43 Juniors finished the regular season with a sweep of Rock Hill Post 34.

Fort Mill won 9-4 over Rock Hill Thursday to finish the regular season at 11-1.

The first Rock Hill batter of the game reached base on an error for an auspicious start for Post 43. Rock Hill would load the bases with no outs, but only came away with one run.

Post 43 offensively started strong tying the game as James Knoll singled and scored eventually on a passed ball in the first inning.

Rock Hill threatened in the second inning getting runners on base again, but the Post 43 defense held strong without allowing a run.

The second inning was beneficial for Fort Mill as they picked up seven runs on four hits. Post 43 got the bases loaded with no outs leading to an RBI single from Lawson Smith. A wild pitch scored Michael Caropreso, who walked earlier in the inning. Another wild pitch scored starting pitcher Alex Downes and Carson Krueger doubled scoring two more runs for Post 43 as they went up 6-1 with one out in the bottom of the second.

That led to a pitching change for Rock Hill, which was followed by a two out single from Caropreso four batters later.

Fort Mill got out of the inning leading 8-1 and stopped Rock Hill in the third inning.

Post 43 could make anything happen in the inning and Rock Hill finally started getting to Post 43 pitching. In the fourth inning, Rock Hill picked up two runs but a 2-6-2 double play got Post 43 out of the inning without too much damage being done.

Caropreso walked in the fourth and scored on a Rock Hill throwing error.

Ryan Stukitz took the mound in the fifth inning. Downes would go two innings allowing four hits and a run. He walked one and struck out one.

Carter Czapla pitched the third and fourth innings allowing two runs on six hits while striking out three.

Rock Hill picked up another run in the sixth inning off three hits as they threatened to score more.

However, another twin killing helped to get Fort Mill out of the jam. Stukitz went two innings allowing four hits and one run, while striking out two.

Zach Young came in to pitch the seventh inning without allowing a hit. He walked one and struck out one.

Fort Mill only got four hits at the plate, but took advantage of nine walks by Rock Hill. Caropreso led at the plate going 1-1 with two RBIs.

Post 43 Seniors sweep Camden

The Fort Mill Post 43 Seniors swept Camden Post 17 with a 9-5 win in eight innings

Fort Mill scored four runs in the top of the eighth inning as Brennan Helms, Thomas Ealey, Cooper Zohner, and Owen Noonan all had two hits in the game. Noonan and Ealey had two RBIs in the win.

Ryan Buskirk got the win going the final two innings allowing two runs on three hits, while walking two and striking out three.

Post 43 improves to 11-3 overall and 8-1 in League IV. Fort Mill is scheduled to host Chesnee Post 48 Friday.
