The Nation Ford and Fort Mill swim teams continue to prove why they are two of the best in the state.

In separate meets Tuesday, Sept. 17, both Fort Mill and Nation Ford dominated to wins over a group of opponents.

At the Fort Mill Aquatic Center, Nation Ford defeated Catawba Ridge, Indian Land, Riverwalk Academy, Buford, Lancaster, and Andrew Jackson. Catawba Ridge was also strong losing only to Nation Ford in the meet.

The Nation Ford boys swim team beat Andrew Jackson 140-0, Buford 136-8, Riverwalk 139-12, Lancaster 136-11, Indian Land 121-44, and Catawba Ridge 115-55. The Nation Ford girls beat Indian Land 138-21, Buford 140-0, Andrew Jackson 139-9, Lancaster 140-7, Riverwalk 140-9, and Catawba Ridge 111-59.

Catawba Ridge boys beat Lancaster 134-13, Riverwalk 138-13, Indian Land 104-61, Andrew Jackson 140-0, and Buford 134-10. The Lady Copperheads beat Buford 140-0, Andrew Jackson 135-13, Indian Land 133-36, Lancaster 140-7, and Riverwalk 140-9.

Nation Ford won all six relay events.  Individual winers for Nation Ford were:

Gavin Charcalla – boys’ 200-yard freestyle and 500-yard freestyle

Gary Reiger – boys’ 200-yard individual medley and 100-yard butterfly

Belle Kolatis – girls’ 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard butterfly

Levi Vaden – boys’ 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle

Kenna Zimmerly – girls’ 200-yard freestyle

Brittany Fink – girls’ 100-yard freestyle

Avery Martin – girls’ 500-yard freestyle

Abby Garcia – girls’ 100-yard breaststroke

Austin Coleman – boys’ 100-yard breaststroke

Individual winners for Catawba Ridge were:

Amelia Meehan – girls’ 200-yard individual medley and 100-yard backstroke

Ethan Curtis – boys’ 100-yard backstroke

At the Rock Hill Aquatic Center, Fort Mill beat Rock Hill, South Pointe, and York on Tuesday as well.

The Fort Mill boys beat Rock Hill 136-34, York 139-22, and South Pointe 136-19. The Fort Mill girls won over Rock Hill 139-31, York 132-32, and South Pointe 140-15.

Fort Mill swims again Thursday, Sept. 19 at the Fort Mill Aquatic Center against Indian Land and Northwestern. Nation Ford and Catawba Ridge do not swim again until Thursday, Sept. 26 against Fort Mill in the Fort Mill Fallout.

The Catawba Ridge girls’ golf team beat Nation Ford 171-179. The win improved the Copperheads to 9-0 in head-to-head matches. Nation Ford dropped to 4-6 on the season. Catawba Ridge was led by Brooke Mehlhouse with an even par 36, followed by a 39 from Reagan Lynch. Anjali Peddisetty and Ella Rose Hill each shot a 48. Nation Ford was led by Sara McCaskill with a 40. She was followed with a 44 from Piper Sabino and a 46 from Katie Griggs. Hadley Mark finished the scoring for the Falcons with a 49. The two teams will participate next in the York County Invitational at Spring Lake Country Club Monday, Sept. 23.
