YORK – The Catawba Ridge girls golf team won the York County Championship at Spring Lake Country Club Monday by 17 strokes.

Catawba Ridge shot a 336 as a team and was led by a 77 from Brooke Mehlhouse, who was second overall as an individual. Reagan Lynch shot an 84 for the Copperheads, followed by an 87 from Anjali Peddisetty and an 88 from Ella Rose Hill.

Nation Ford was second in the eight-team tournament as a team with a 353 and was led by Sara McCaskill’s 78. Piper Sabino followed her with an 81 and Katie Griggs finished with an 89. Mary Kate Quinlan rounded out the scoring for the Falcons with a 105.

Fort Mill finished third in the tournament with a 357. Sam Benton led the Lady Jackets with an 81. Claire Collins finished with an 86 and Olivia Siefert shot a 94. Ava Staroski finished the scoring for Fort Mill with a 96.

Finishing behind the Fort Mill schools was York with a 390, Clover with a 391, Northwestern with a 419, and Rock Hill with a 435. York’s Callie Lawton was medalist for the tournament with a round of 70, the only score under par in the tournament.

Up next for Catawba Ridge is a match against Indian Land at Fort Mill Golf Club on Wednesday, Sept. 25. Nation Ford will play at River Hills Country Club against Clover the same day and Fort Mill will play at home Thursday, Sept. 26 at Tega Cay Golf Club against South Pointe High School.
