Catawba Ridge’s Anjali Peddisetty putts on the 18th green at Rock Hill Country Club during the Lady Trojan Invitational

ROCK HILL – Playing in less-than-ideal conditions, the Catawba Ridge girls golf team finished in second place at the Lady Trojan Invitational by one stroke Monday.

With rain and wind being a consistent challenge all day, golfers from 15 teams battled the weather conditions at Rock Hill Country Club. No individual shot under par as River Bluff’s Caitlyn Gawes was the medalist with a four-over 76.

River Bluff won the 18-hole tournament with a 343, while the Copperheads were one stroke back with a 344.

Catawba Ridge was led by Anjali Peddisetty with an 83 (42-41), which was good enough for fifth place overall. Reagan Lynch finished with an 84 (43-41) in sixth place, while Brooke Mehlhouse shot an 85 (40-45) and was tied for seventh. Jordan Lyons finished the scoring for Catawba Ridge with a 92 (47-45).

Fort Mill finished fifth with a 393 and was led by Claire Collins with a round of 95 (51-44). That score gave her an individual finish of 20th. Olivia Seifert finished with a 97 (52-45) for Fort Mill and Sam Benton shot a 100 (49-51) for the Jackets. Ava Staroski finished the scoring for Fort Mill with a 101 (52-49).

Nation Ford was two strokes behind Fort Mill as a team finishing in sixth with a 395. They were led by an 85 (43-42) from Sara McCaskill, who was tied with Mehlhouse from Catawba Ridge for seventh. Katie Griggs shot a 91 (45-46) and Hadley Mark finished with a 106 (58-48). Mary Kate Quinlan finished the scoring for the Falcons with a 113 (56-57).

Nation Ford and Catawba Ridge return to Fort Mill to play each other on Wednesday, Sept. 18 at Fort Mill Golf Club, while Fort Mill next plays at River Hill Country Club against Clover on the same day.
