The Fort Mill Yellow Jackets boys’ tennis team shutout Catawba Ridge winning 6-0 at the varsity level Wednesday.

All six matches were straight set wins by Fort Mill as Catawba Ridge won 10 games the entire match.

Leading the way for Fort Mill was No. 1 singles Clay Wilson winning 6-1, 6-0 over Cale Guarino for the Copperheads. The Jackets No. 2 singles Zach Hughes got a 6-0, 6-0 win over Wayne Uter for Catawba Ridge.

Arnav Meshram won 6-2, 6-0 for Fort Mill over Catawba Ridge’s Ishaan Singh at No. 3 singles. The closest match of the evening came at No. 4 singles as the Jackets’ Xander Pak beat the Copperheads’ Koen Tesimale 6-3, 6-1.

Fort Mill’s Jack Childs finished the singles matches at No. 5 singles win 6-0, 6-3 over Jacob Thompson. In No. 2 doubles, Cade Simms and Patrick Wright for the Jackets beat Haddon Richardson and Trevor Sterverson 6-0, 6-0 for the Copperheads.

Fort Mill will take on Nation Ford Thursday evening at Nation Ford High.

The Nation Ford boys’ golf team finished second in the Falcon Cup at Palisades Country Club in a two-man tournament style of play. Carter Smith and Trip Smith shot a 69, Ben Wakefield and Harrison Lapointe shot a 73, and Justin Wosje and Tyler Kemmerlin shot a 78. Catawba Ridge’s OT Mitchell and Hunter Warren won the event with a 67.

The Nation Ford softball team fell to Blythewood 7-3 on the road to drop to 10-4 overall and 6-1 in Region 3-5A. Paizlei Ross hit a home run and drove in three runs, but Blythewood had one big inning where they scored five runs in the fifth inning.

The Fort Mill baseball team took game two in their three-game series with Nation Ford winning 6-1. The win improves the Jackets to 16-5 and 12-1 in Region 3-5A. Kody Romero pitched a complete game three hitter and allowed one run, while striking out two to get the win for the Jackets. Michael Rogers and Carter Blankinship each had three hits for Fort Mill. Blankinship and Andrew Craddock each had two RBIs for the Jackets. The loss drops Nation Ford to 10-11 overall and 5-8 in the region.

The Catawba Ridge baseball team beat Northwestern 10-0 to win the series and improve to 20-2 overall on the season clinching the Region 3-4A title outright. Peyton Dhein pitched five innings allowing two hits and striking out nine to get the win. Dhein and Jackson Mullen each had two hits to lead at the plate. The Copperheads are 13-1 in the region.

The Catawba Ridge softball team dropped just their second game of the season losing to the Byrnes Rebels 9-2 on the road. The Copperheads are now 17-2 overall on the season.

The Catawba Ridge boys’ lacrosse team fell in the first round of the 4A playoffs losing 11-5 to Eastside. The Copperheads finished the season at 8-7 overall.

The Fort Mill boys’ lacrosse team fell in the first round of the 5A playoffs losing 11-6 to Boiling Springs. The Jackets finished the season at 6-11 overall.
