The Fort Mill girls’ tennis team faced their toughest competition of the season so far, but still came out on top beating Nation Ford.

Fort Mill, who hadn’t lost an individual match in the first six matches winning 6-0 every match, finally dropped two matches against Nation Ford, but pulled out a 4-2 win over the Falcons to improve to 6-0 on the season, which also equals their Region 3-5A record as well.

The Jackets are also 6-0 on the season, while Nation Ford dropped to 4-2 overall on the season and 4-1 in the region.

Fort Mill got wins at No. 1, No. 3, and No. 5 singles to go with a win in the only doubles match. Emily Rimmer won 6-1, 6-2 for Fort Mill at No. 1 singles beating Ava Baldino.

Nation Ford’s No. 2 Ansley McDonald won 6-2, 6-1 over the Jackets’ Reagan Adams.

Kendall McCarty won for Fort Mill at No. 3 singles beating Piper Land in three sets 6-3, 4-6, 10-8; while No. 4 singles Eva Mabey won for Nation Ford over Hannah Swainey for the Jackets 7-6, 6-2.

Fort Mill did get an advantage at 3-2 with Justine Das winning 6-0, 6-0 over the Falcons’ No. 5 player Reagan Newman.

The Jackets locked things up at No. 2 doubles as Abhi Nallareaddy and Maddie Burcham won 6-1, 6-1 over Nation Ford’s Claire Kaltenbach and Tejal Guntuboyina.

The Catawba Ridge girls’ tennis team fell to Clover 4-2 to fall to 2-4 overall and 2-3 in Region 3-5A. Getting wins for Catawba Ridge was Skylar White at No. 4 singles 1-6, 6-4, 10-7 and Abby Russell at No. 5 singles 6-0, 6-1.

The Catawba Ridge boys’ volleyball team fell to Clover 3-2 (25-22, 21-25, 25-22, 23-25, 7-15) on the road to fall to 9-6 overall and 4-3 in Region 3-5A.

The Nation Ford boys’ volleyball team beat Fort Mill 3-1. Nation Ford improved to 6-7 overall and 2-5 in Region 3-5A, while Fort Mill fell to 4-10 overall and 2-5 in the region.
