For the second consecutive time this year, the Fort Mill girls’ tennis team’s hardest opponent has been their biggest rival in Nation Ford.
Fort Mill won 4-2 against Nation Ford Thursday to finish the regular season with a perfect 12-0 record and in the process win the Region 3-5A title.
Emily Rimmer won 6-4, 6-1 for Fort Mill over Ava Baldino at No. 1 singles. Nation Ford’s Ansley McDonald won at No. 2 singles 6-1, 6-4 over Fort Mill’s Reagan Adams.
The Jackets’ Kendall McCarty won at No. 3 singles 7-5, 7-5 over the Falcons’ Piper Land. Eva Mabey won at No. 4 singles for Nation Ford at 6-2, 6-1 over Fort Mill’s Hannah Swainey.
Fort Mill won crucial matches at No. 5 singles with Justine Das winning 6-0, 6-1 over Nation Ford’s Reagan Newman. In No. 2 doubles for Fort Mill, Abhi Nallareddy and Maddie Burcham wrapped the match up with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Nation Ford’s Claire Kaltenback and Tejal Guntuboyina.
Nation Ford finished the regular season at 10-2 in the region, with both losses coming to Fort Mill, and 10-3 overall.

The Catawba Ridge girls’ tennis team beat Clover 4-2 to improve to 6-6 in Region 3-5A play and 7-7 overall on the season. Winning for Catawba Ridge was Gianna Toscano 6-1, 3-6, 10-5; Skylar White 6-2, 6-0; Kaitlyn Wood 7-5, 4-6, 12-10 and in doubles, Jane Rohrmeier and Meredith Reynolds 6-2, 6-2.
The Nation Ford boys’ volleyball team swept Fort Mill winning 3-0 (25-13, 25-17, 25-22) to improve to 5-9 in Region 3-5A and 10-13 on the season. Fort Mill dropped to 4-10 in region and 7-17 on the season.
The Catawba Ridge boys’ volleyball team fell to Clover 3-2 (25-19, 21-25, 25-22, 11-25, 12-15) to drop to 9-5 in Region 3-5A and 14-8 overall on the season.
