Fort Mill’s Lila Hadley swims the 200-yard individual medley during Saturday’s Upstate Invite.

It only seemed fitting that the host of the Upstate Invite swim meet be the ones bringing home the trophies.

Both the Fort Mill boys and girls swim teams won the meet and Nation Ford came in second in both cases during the Upstate Invite Saturday at the Fort Mill Aquatic Center.

The Fort Mill girls scored 320 points with Nation Ford scoring 218. The Catawba Ridge girls finished fourth with 80 points, behind third place Clover with 86 points. There were 21 different teams participating in the event.

The Fort Mill boys swim team scored 338.5 points with Nation Ford scoring 186 points. Catawba Ridge had 73 points for fifth place behind Clover and Mauldin.

Fort Mill as a team won three relays including the boys 400-yard freestyle, girls 400-yard freestyle, and the boys 200-yard medley relay. Nation Ford won the other three relays in the girls 200-yard freestyle, boys 200-yard freestyle, and the girls 200-yard medley relay.

Between Fort Mill and Nation Ford, the two teams won 12 of the 16 individual events.

Individual winners for Fort Mill were:

Ava Corbi – girls’ 200-yard freestyle

Lila Hadley – girls’ 200-yard individual medley

Adrian Paredes – boys’ 200-yard individual medley

Turner Wiand – boys’ 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke

Dominic Impens – boys’ 100-yard freestyle and 100-yard breaststroke

Individual winners for Nation Ford were:

Belle Kolatis – girls’ 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard butterfly

Gray Reiger – boys’ 100-yard freestyle

Avery Martin – girls’ 500-yard freestyle

Kenna Zimmerly – girls’ 100-yard backstroke

Up next for Fort Mill is a tri-meet at the Rock Hill Aquatic Center Thursday, Sept. 12 and for Nation Ford, they have a quad-meet at Clover on Tuesday, Sept. 10. Catawba Ridge has a tri-meet Thursday, Sept. 12 at the Fort Mill Aquatic Center.
