Fort Mill Post 43 pitcher River Joye picked up his second win this week against Lancaster Post 31.

LANCASTER – The Fort Mill Post 43 Seniors bounced back after dropping their first League IV game with a 6-3 win over Lancaster Post 31.

The win gave Fort Mill the series against Lancaster taking two of three games. Fort Mill is now 8-2 on the season and 5-1 in league play.

Fort Mill got a couple on base to start the game in the first inning and Lancaster did the same. Neither were able to score.

In the second inning, Brennan Helms got a sacrifice fly scoring Jonathan Barschow to put Post 43 on the scoreboard. Owen Noonan reached on an error scoring Nico Bartolotti as Fort Mill went up 2-0.

Fort Mill continued to get on base loading things up in the third inning with one out, but was unable to get a run out of it.

In the fourth inning, Noonan singled and Jackson Mullen reached base on Lancaster’s third error of the game. Post 43 scored two runs on another Lancaster error doubling their lead.

Post 31 had their first hit of the game in the fourth inning with a double by Eli Sistare. Sistare would score on a Fort Mill error. Case Jackson would knock in Lancaster’s second run on an infield single. A sacrifice by Reid Kazmierzak gave Post 31 another run cutting into the Fort Mill lead.

In the fifth inning, Post 43 got the runs back with a two-run home run by Noonan after a walk to Helms.

Post 43 starter River Joye came out after the fifth inning allowing three runs on three hits, while walking two and striking out six.

John Dober came in to get the save pitching the final two innings allowing one hit and one walk while striking out one.

Noonan led at the plate for Fort Mill as he went 2-4 with two RBIs. Bartolotti, Mullen, Cooper Zohner, Zach Jennings and Simon Fernandez also got hits in the game.

Post 43 heads to Northwest Cabarrus High School on Friday to take on Kannapolis.
