The Fort Mill Post 43 Senior team got the season sweep over Winnsboro Post 16 Thursday.

Post 43 won 10-0 in five innings again enforcing the 10-run mercy rule.

Fort Mill held off a strong start by Winnsboro in the top of the first without allowing a run.

Offensively, Post 43 was able to get several runs in the bottom half of the first with the help of a solo home run by Cooper Zohner and a double by Simon Fernandez scoring Nico Bartolotti, who walked to reach base.

Winnsboro again threatened in the second inning loading the bases, but Post 43 starter Sam Czyz was again able to get out of the jam without surrendering a run.

Post 43 added two more runs in the second off three walks by Winnsboro and an error by Post 16.

In the third inning, Fort Mill added a run as Anthony Marano would score on a double by Jackson Mullen.

Both Owen Noonan and Bartolotti started the bottom of the fourth off with back-to-back home runs.

Post 43 continued to increase their lead in the fifth inning scoring three runs to enforce the mercy rule.

Mullen started things off with a double. A. sacrifice fly by Brennan Helms scored Marano and a sacrifice fly by Fernandez scored Mullen. Zach Jennings would single up the middle to end the game scoring Noonan. Jennings, Mullen, and Bartolotti all got two hits each and Fernandez had two RBIs.

Czyz went the distance allowing four hits and four walks, while striking out four.

Post 43 improved to 6-1 overall on the season and 3-0 in League IV play.  They will have a three-game series next week against Lancaster Post 31.

Juniors take one from Lancaster

The Fort Mill Post 43 Juniors improved to 6-0 with a 10-3 win over Lancaster Post 31 on the road at Harvey Eggleton Field Thursday.

Carter Czapla went 2-5 and Alex Smith had two RBIs to lead Post 43 at the plate. Fort Mill used a big second inning where they scored four runs to take an early lead and never looked back. They would also score multiple runs in the sixth and seventh innings.

Cole Stukitz got the win on the mound going three and a third innings allowing just two hits and one run. He also walked five and struck out five.

Post 43 Juniors will return to action Monday, June 17 at Nation Ford against Post 31 Yellow Jackets.
