The Fort Mill Post 43 Seniors started off hot to go to a 13-6 win over Camden Post 17 in game two of their series.

After a 1-2-3 start to the game, Fort Mill took advantage of Camden’s pitching struggles to score seven runs in the bottom of the first inning. Camden walked five in the first inning. Hunter Busque and Thomas Ealey both singled, while Brennan Helms doubled adding to the score in the inning.

Helms added to his RBI total in the second inning with a sacrifice fly scoring Cooper Zohner who walked to reach base.

Zohner drove in Owen Noonan in the third inning after he reached on a single. Zach Jennings continued to power Post 43 with a two-run home run to push the score to 11-0.

Post 43 picked up two more runs in the fourth inning. A double by John Dober scored both Noonan, who singled, and Nick Chuttey, who walked.

Fort Mill starter River Joye would throw four innings allowing one hit and not walking anyone, while striking out one.

Camden kept the game alive scoring four run on four hits and a Fort Mill error off Post 43 relief pitching.

Fort Mill got runners on in the fifth inning, but couldn’t push a run across and left the bases loaded to end the inning.

Liam Quinn came in the game in the sixth inning for Post 43 and despite Camden threatening, Quinn and the Fort Mill defense were able to keep them from scoring.

Rayce Buskirk pitched the seventh inning for Fort Mill and despite giving up two runs on two hits for Post 43 was able to take care of business and close the game out.

Fort Mill had 15 hits in the game. Busque went 3-3 with two RBIs, while Jennings and Helms each went 1-2 with three RBIs. Noonan and Dober each had two hits as well, with Dober getting two RBIs in the game also.

Fort Mill improved to 10-3 overall on the season and 7-1 in League IV play. Post 43 will head back to Camden for game three of the series Thursday, June 27.

Juniors take series over Jackets

The Fort Mill Post 43 Juniors took the season series over the Post 31 Yellow Jackets with a 3-1 road win.

Zach Boutwell allowed one run on two hits in getting the win while going four innings. Post 43 didn’t allow a walk in the game.

At the plate, Fort Mill had four hits coming from Alex Smith, Alex Downes, Jet Spencer and Carson Krueger.  Downes, James Knoll and Ryan Stukitz each had an RBI in the game.

Fort Mill improved to 10-1 overall on the season. Post 43 Juniors will finish the regular season Thursday at Nation Ford High School facing Rock Hill Post 34.
